” اوئے لڑکی! جلدی کر ، میری یہ دوا پیک کر ، ” اس نے بد تمیزی سے کہا۔
جی سر ، بس ایک منٹ، ستارہ نے جلدی میں بل بنایا، مگر گھبراہٹ میں اس سے بل کے حساب میں دو سو روپے کی غلطی ہو گئی۔
گاہک نے بل دیکھا تو غصے سے اسے کاؤنٹر پر دے مارا:
اندھی ہو کیا تم ؟ شکل سے پڑھی لکھی نہیں لگتیں، پتہ نہیں کس نے یہاں بٹھا دیا ہے تمہیں !”

ستارہ کا چہرہ شرمندگی اور دکھ سے لال ہو گیا اور اس کی آنکھوں میں پانی بھر آیا:
“سر … مجھ سے غلطی ہو گئی۔ مجھے معاف کر دیں۔”
اسی لمحے دروازہ کھلا اور اظمیر اندر داخل ہوا۔ اس نے گاہک کا یہ رویہ اور ستارہ کی بیبسی اپنی آنکھوں سے دیکھ لی تھی۔ اس کا خون کھول اٹھا۔
اظمیر نے نہایت سرد اور خطر ناک آواز میں کہا:
” آواز نیچی رکھ کر بات کرو!”
“تم کون ہوتے ہو بیچ میں بولنے والے ؟ دیکھو اس لڑکی نے بل میں غلطی کی ہے ، ” گاہک نے تپ کر کہا۔
اظمیر نے غصے سے کاؤنٹر پر ہاتھ مارا:
غلطی کسی سے بھی ہو سکتی ہے ! عزت سے بات کرنا سیکھو ، ورنہ دفع ہو جاؤ یہاں سے !”
اس شخص نے اظمیر کے رعب دار چہرے اور تاثرات کو دیکھا، اور خاموشی سے اپنی دوا اٹھا کر باہر نکل گیا۔
دکان میں ایک پر اسرار خاموشی چھا گئی۔ ستارہ نے جلدی سے اپنے آنسو صاف کیے۔
اظمیر نے اس کے قریب ہو کر نہایت نرمی سے کہا:

رومت ستاره … تم نے کچھ غلط نہیں کیا۔ ”
ستارہ نے پہلی بار سر اٹھا کر اظمیر کی آنکھوں میں دیکھا، اس کے دل سے ایک گہرا شکر یہ ابھرا، مگر زبان سے ایک لفظ بھی ادا نہ ہو سکا۔

Summary

Sitara is a simple and hardworking girl who tries her best to fulfill her responsibilities despite facing difficult circumstances. While working at a pharmacy, she accidentally makes a small mistake in a customer’s bill.
